David Brown has spent over 30 years guiding companies through critical phases of growth, turnaround, and transition. His career spans leadership roles as CEO, COO, CRO, and CFO across industries as diverse as manufacturing, consulting, IT services, healthcare, oil & gas, and financial services. What makes David stand out is his rare ability to quickly understand new industries, stabilize operations, and implement growth strategies that deliver lasting results.

Early in his career, David stepped into his family business, Tri-Steel Structures, where he ultimately became CEO. There, he executed a remarkable turnaround—reducing payroll by 30%, restructuring vendor debt, and restoring profitability in less than three years. This experience shaped his approach to leadership: practical, people-centered, and laser-focused on building sustainable businesses.
David went on to hold executive roles in multiple sectors, including serving as COO of a specialty pipe-fitting manufacturer and CFO of an employee benefits and wealth management firm. Each role added depth to his expertise, reinforcing his ability to bring both financial discipline and operational insight to leadership teams.
Driving Growth at Teknion Data Solutions
One of David's most notable achievements came at Teknion Data Solutions, a boutique consulting firm specializing in data and analytics. When David joined, the company had just 17 consultants. As Chief Revenue Officer—and later COO and CRO—he helped lead a period of extraordinary expansion as Teknion grew to more than 70 consultants and achieved an eightfold revenue increase.
That growth culminated in a successful sale to a private equity-backed strategic buyer that not only met but exceeded all earn-out targets. David's leadership through this process highlights his deep understanding of both organic growth and exit readiness—a combination that perfectly aligns with the mission of Mastery Partners.
During the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, David was instrumental in implementing The Great Game of Business. This open-book management system strengthened team engagement and profitability, reflecting his belief that sustainable growth requires not just strategy and systems, but also a culture of transparency, accountability, and empowerment.
Founder of Battle Ready Advisors
Today, David channels his expertise into Battle Ready Advisors, a consultancy dedicated to helping entrepreneurs and small business owners align sales, operations, and leadership with long-term value creation. His work focuses on sales strategy, turnaround management, leadership development, and preparing companies for successful exits.
David's clients appreciate his hands-on approach, combining boardroom-level strategy with practical execution. His unique background—spanning C-suite leadership across multiple industries—gives him the versatility to understand the nuances of each business while providing clear, actionable guidance.
