That’s exactly what Mark King has been doing for more than 40 years, and now he’s bringing that expertise to Mastery Partners as one of our newest partners. With a career spanning executive leadership, entrepreneurship, and board service, Mark has consistently guided organizations through growth, transformation, and successful transitions. His addition to our team strengthens our mission to help business owners maximize value and prepare for the future with clarity and confidence.

A Career Defined by Leadership and Transformation

Mark King’s career is a testament to what it means to lead with vision, discipline, and adaptability. Over the course of more than 40 years, he has held executive roles that span industries, guided companies through complex challenges, and positioned businesses for long-term success.

Notably, Mark served as Chairman and CEO of Micropac Industries, a publicly traded leader in high-reliability electronics serving the defense, aerospace, medical, industrial, and space markets. Under his leadership, the company’s valuation increased tenfold, ultimately culminating in its acquisition by a major public corporation. That accomplishment reflects not only Mark’s ability to lead strategically but also his gift for creating enterprise value—a skill that lies at the very heart of Mastery Partners’ mission.

Earlier in his career, Mark spent 22 years with Texas Instruments and continued with Raytheon following its acquisition of TI Defense Systems. In these roles, he directed technology policy, corporate strategy, and product development while collaborating with government agencies, R&D centers, and industry leaders. His experience navigating Fortune 500 environments while influencing innovation and policy adds another dimension to his leadership background—one that blends technical expertise with corporate strategy.

In addition to his corporate achievements, Mark co-founded a manufacturing startup, guiding it from inception to a successful sale to an international firm. That experience gave him the perspective of an entrepreneur—understanding firsthand the challenges and opportunities of launching, scaling, and ultimately exiting a business.

Mark’s career is not only defined by his executive accomplishments but also by his deep commitment to governance and board leadership. He is a Certified NACD Board Leadership Fellow and holds the NACD Board Certification, achievements that underscore his dedication to excellence in corporate governance.

His leadership has been recognized with prestigious honors, including being named “Outstanding Director of the Year” and receiving the “Tall Texan” Lifetime Achievement Award. These recognitions reflect not just his professional achievements but also the respect he has earned from peers, colleagues, and the broader business community.

Beyond his corporate roles, Mark has also served extensively in nonprofit and community leadership. From hospitals and chambers of commerce to social service organizations, he has given back by lending his expertise to help strengthen governance and create impact. The Person Behind the Professional

While Mark’s career achievements are impressive, his story is also one of family, service, and balance. Originally from West Virginia, he and his wife, Patti, moved to Texas in 1978, where they built a life and raised their family. Together, they are the proud parents of two children, Mark Jr. and Mary Beth, and grandparents to seven grandchildren.

Outside of business, Mark’s life reflects the same values he brings to his work—integrity, commitment, and a desire to make a lasting impact. His balance of professional excellence and personal dedication is exactly the kind of leadership we value at Mastery Partners.
